Treasures of the North - East

Duration : 14 Days / 12 Nights
Destination : Delhi – Kolkata - Darjeeling – Sikkim

Discover the rich Mughal heritage of Old Delhi and the grandeur of Lutyens’ architecture in New Delhi before flying to the former capital of the Raj, Kolkata. Known as the “City of Joy”, Kolkata is home to many architectural gems of colonial times. At the top of this list are Victoria Memorial, and the churches of St.John and St.Andrew. Proud and intellectual, the former Imperial capital of India is known for its contribution to the arts, medical services, social reform and contemporary lifestyle.

Leave the frenetic buzz of the port city behind as you travel through the picturesque paddy fields and tea plantations of Sikkim. The landscape is resplendent with gushing rivers and cascading waterfalls. Carry on to the hill station town of Kalimpong, a once vital link along the silk routes from Tibet.

Witness the awesome sight of India’s third highest peak, Mt. Kanchenjuga, being illuminated by a golden sunrise; gain an insight into the lives of the monks at the monasteries in Rumtek, Phodong and Tashiding; and travel on the narrow gauge Himalayan Railway, the "Toy Train", to Darjeeling.

This charming town is known for its aromatic and flavourful teas. Its Tibetan residents attribute to a culturally diverse and intriguing population. An oasis of tranquility and natural beauty, Darjeeling is a fitting finale to this 12 day tour of the region.
